On the heels of court documents revealing embattled sisters Sen. Jane Orie (R - Allegheny) and state Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin went to an “angel lady” to see if ethics charges would be pursued against them, political activist Gene Stilp put a 15 foot angel in front of the Judicial Center Tuesday.
The angel, a wooden cutout complete with a fog machine at her feet, held a sign urging Justice Orie Melvin to resign.

Ms. Orie, and her sister Janine, are being charged with using government resources and employees in Justice Orie Melvin’s 2004 and 2009 campaigns. Justice Orie Melvin is subject to a Grand Jury investigation as to whether or not she was aware of the use of public resources in her campaign.
Last week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the Orie sisters sought advice from Carolann Sano of Philadelphia, who claims to be capable of speaking with spirits, which she calls angels. When the sisters contacted Ms. Sano in November they wanted to know if the pending Grand Jury investigating Sen. Orie would be successful.
“The message the 15-foot angel is telling Judge Orie Melvin is to resign immediately,” Mr. Stilp said.
Mr. Stilp got a reputation as a political gadfly after using inflatable pigs to protest the 2005-06 pay raise and erected the Statue of Liberty replica on an island in the Susquehanna River.
